Right, the work at College is really starting to pile on now, with 2 units running at the same time. We have to do the 'professional brief' on Tuesdays and Fridays and then we're doing a course on Motion Graphics on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The professional brief unit is really starting to warm up, now that we've discussed what work to do and we have to start off by just doing it ourselves.
From the Microsoft Imagine Cup, I'm creating a short film about 'sustainable technology' and already I have a ton of ideas on which I plan to incorporate. I've been collecting many leaflets on the environment and recycling and I've been trying to arrange dates on when I'll be able to get some footage. I have half term off from work so I plan to get all the filming done then and I've even created a schedule for when I plan to get each part of work completed.
For the Motion Graphics unit, we have to create a trailer on one of the selected games. Luckily for me, Resident Evil was one of them (as I have a ton of resources from being such a fanboy of the series) so I look forward to creating that trailer. I presented my Powerpoint Presentation to our class today on my 3 ideas for my trailer. My first idea was based on editing together the introduction of Resident evil remake to the jump scene with the details of the game following. My second idea was similar, but with text titles in between the clips of the scene like 'think you've felt true terror' with it finally getting to 'you've felt nothing yet' and then the jump scene video comes in. Aftewards, a blast of short video clips from the game follows with the final title coming in, displaing all the details about the game. My third and final idea was just a quiet intro with scenes of the monsters from the game standing around. Next, it would be the characters searching through all the empty rooms of the Mansion. Finally, one of the characters would be walking down the corridor when a zombie bursts through a door which leads to a collage of quick clips from the game with the title and details following.
So I left it to the floor to choose which idea they liked most, and idea 2 was the majority which I'm happy with although Paul said he wasn't keen on the idea of me using actual game footage in my trailer (which contradicts what Yuki told me yesterday with it being fine as long as the focus is on what I create, which this trailer would be). So I may use a few more video effects to try and make the video seem more of my own creation but seeing as we have to use Adobe Premiere and After Effects (2 programmes that I have little experience with), what I can create will depend on how well I can work with the programmes.
Overall, these units look very positive as they both incorporate elements of film and video (which I plan on taking further) so as long as I put every ounce of effort in, I reckon I can acheive well over the next few weeks.
