Editing of the project

Even though the shoot of the film isn't planned to end until Tuesday next week, I've started the project editing now so I can tell if there's any re-shoots needed and also so the final product will be finished sooner. Yesterday was a bit of a disaster. I spent hours editing the project, just to find Adobe Premiere (which I am using fully for the first time as opposed to Cyberlink Power Director) would crash whenever I imported any more footage. I spent ages looking up the problem, trying to resolve it until I eventually got to the stage of giving up.

I decided to give Sony Vegas a try, but the user interface is terribly daunting and I just don't think the software is particularly suited to editing film. So I tried Premiere once more and actually found a forum thread which was having the same problem as me. They said that the solution was (believe it or nor) to actually put the captured footage through Windows Movie Maker as that codec is fully supported in Premiere. I tried that and not only does the footage remain at the same quality but it also works in Premiere! So yes, I've got a fair bit of the film edited now (was up until 4 getting one scene done this morning...) and I'm pretty pleased with it.

My main concern at the moment with editing is how I'll get gun shots to look in the film...
