Ferals: 10 days left

If there's anything that I've learnt from this project so far, it is that producing is a full time job. I've been so lucky that my work hours are only in the morning and weekends because the amount of organisation that has taken place for this upcoming short film has taken up all my free time, every day. It's been great though, sure it's been tough, but it has confirmed that producing is where I want to enter in the film industry.

Over the past 4 weeks of pre-production, we have managed to get all the locations secured, held auditions and cast all the roles, recce'd every location and later today we're meeting up with the makeup team to try some makeup tests for the Feral monsters. This is definitely the biggest production that I have produced, it definitely has the largest budget - over twice that of the largest that I've produced but everyone on board is a professional so it will definitely be worth it.

The makeup team we have on board looks really good, some of the members have worked on zombie features and such before so I'm expecting this to look the dogs bollocks. We have a decent sized crew for a short which means more attention can be spent to detail and it's only 10 days now until day one of shooting begins. We just really need to hold the rain off for the 5 days of the shoot.

Really pleased with our cast, we had some great auditions and there were some tough decisions about who to go for but I know that we've made the right choice. We've got some catering sorted out for all the days which should keep everyone happy.

In other news, went to the Cinematique! Film festival at the BFI London IMAX last night where our student film, The Double Date from earlier on this year was screened. We managed to get a decent sized audience, around 150 heads or so and it went down really well, managed to get a lot of laughs in the right places and I heard some whispers of people saying how entertaining it was so pretty pleased with that. There were some great films on show too, Fear of Retribution and Lost and Found were two to note.

But yes, it's been a busy week but in 10 days things will get a whole load busier. Let's hope it all goes to plan.
