All the pre-production scheduling and paperwork for my new short drama film 'Blood Money' has been completed, so we began the actual filming 2 days ago. The film has a cast of 9 actors and then a few extras in the scenes so this is the biggest production that I have written and directed myself. Matt is co-producing the production with me and is also working on the sound for the project so I'm not overwhelmed with that task too like I was when we made 'Save Yourself' about a year ago.
Tuesday was the first day of shooting, and what a day it was! We started filming at 6pm and finished at about 3am which was mine and everyone's first ever night shoot. We managed to cover a lot of scenes in this time but due to exhaustion and me being very perfectionist at parts, we had to skip a couple of them. I am very pleased with the way the film is looking. With the addition of lighting in the project, a lot of the scenes look very moody and it's also very easy to compensate if trying to make a morning scene when filming at night time if you have some lights to play around with. That said, when we were filming the warehouse scene of the filming, one of the lights actually fell over and broke. I am hoping that it was only the light bulb that broke as replacing the whole light will cost me an arm and a leg...
Anyways, after about 14 hours of rehearsals and shoots over the past 2 days, I have 2 full days off to start looking at the footage and begin editing. Keep checking back as I'll post more news soon!
