Today we went to the Lighthouse exhibition on Brighton that was hosting a series of Dance videos. The first one I saw was what looked like a 1940's wife doing a lot of really random things like putting loads of cans into a cupboard and cleaning but doing it all in a dance sequence. I also saw another video that started off with this guys face struggling against a layer of clingfilm and all you can hear is his muffled resistance and the buzzing of a hair razor. The video was very 'abstract' and random with a lot of non-linear sequences about this guy with a shaved head. I admired the camera shots as they were very well done, the Lighting was great and many of the shots were original and referenced quite well to horror. That said, both videos just really didn't make sense unless you look at them as an art form or expression.
Finally, I saw a 3D video of an Asian Dancer where we had to wear these Blue and Red Glasses. It took my breath away at first because I was so convinced the person was actually there. Then as we came to realise it was just an illusion, it was so hard to stop the temptation to kick the illusion as it looked so real. We found that the glasses looked better if you look just through the blue lens so then you don't keep getting the red lens interfering. Overall I was very impressed as these were very original approaches to video.
