Sorry about the previous whingy post from the other day. I was just at a real low point in my life - I had my gym locker broken into and all my possessions; cards, wallet, phone, keys, clothes... all gone. And it wasn't helped by other things stockpiling on top of that! However, I'm beyond that and have had some good luck in my life!
On Weds I showed Dean, Lewes and Ant (the sound recordist) the rough cut of About Sixteen so far. People seem to be pleased with it so far, although I did get a massive list of changes to work on over Christmas. The biggest issue was with the audio where Dean's voice came out very distorted as he speaks much louder than Lewes throughout the film. How did I fix this you may ask? Well, for the first time in my life, we had to do an ADR session (for those out of the loop it is a Additional Dialogue Recording). This means that I set up a mini studio in my bedroom consisting of a sound recorder, my laptop, a mic (and stand) and a seperate monitor that was connected from my Laptop via HDMI. The guys had to act out the vocals in exact synchronicity of the footage which took a few hours. I added a few of the tracks yesterday and it seems to be pretty un-noticable!
This is the most time I have ever spent on a film. Shooting finished a month ago and I'm still on the rough cut of the film. I still have the audio to fix, the effects to add and I unfortunately got some lens flare and smudges on a few scenes which I need to try and fix in After Effects. I'm going back home for just under 3 weeks for Christmas on Monday so I should hopefully have some more time to get it all fixed up before the new year! Am hoping all this effort will make the film eligible to be entered into a few film festivals so we can spread some exposure upon the names of all of those involved.
My housemate's girlfriend is a photographer so we managed to get her to take some really high-res promotional photos of the film which are looking really good! Am hoping they will be on the Lightwind Productions site this weekend. Stay tuned...
