Final Major Project: Interactive Video

So I finally came to a decision on what to do my final major project on... Interactive video.

I chose this, because as you may have learnt by now - I have a passion for film and video making. But I wanted to step aside from the traditional techniques, and take what I've learnt one step further. I want to experiment with what has the potential to be the next generation of video.
Instead of the viewer just wanting the video, I want the viewer to be able to actually interact with the video. This may sound quite similar to videogames, and I intend to make one side along those lines with a film story, that is made through the viewer's choices. But the other experiment I want to make more real and make it feel like it's coming out of the screen.

How do I plan on doing this for a College project, you may ask. Well, I have the idea of making the viewer do something on a computer which is unrelated to what I plan to pull off, but it will be a task that they will become immersed in and unaware that something else is coming. Eventually, the task they undertook, will change to something that will provoke a reaction from them for example, a video that looks live and will shock them but actually it would be fake, pre-recorded footage. This example may sound vague and like a prank, but I have a few ideas floating about which I think could be quite interesting to experiment with.

I think this project could be good fun, as I will be able to incorporate elements from this course that I've experienced and experimented with and I am quite free to be open with what I eventually do in this project. However, this seems to be my downfall as I'm having troubles with finding a starting point with this project... Hopefully this blog will get the stone rolling!
